Universal Workplace Adjustments
This article argues that inclusive workplaces should not rely only on individual accommodation requests. Many adjustments can be built into everyday working practice and benefit a much wider group of people.
The examples include clearer typography, better colour contrast, captions, advance meeting agendas, writing support tools, flexible working and accessible physical spaces.
The wider message is that universal adjustments reduce the need for people to struggle before asking for help. They make access more proactive and less dependent on disclosure.
For AXS Passport, universal design and individual adjustment records are complementary. Organisations need both: better default environments and clearer ways to respond when individual support is needed.
